How to Prepare for Your Initial Exam
Because we value your time, all new patient forms can be filled out online at your convenience. Our friendly staff is available to answer all of your questions before, during, and after your appointment — please don’t hesitate to call us if you have questions! What to bring to your first appointment:
- Dental X-rays from the previous six months, if available. (We can take X-rays if you do not have them.)
- Medical and dental history, including any allergies or medications you are currently taking.
- Dental insurance card, if you have one. (If you don’t, be sure to review our dental financing options.) We accept Care Credit for zero-interest payment plans. Patients can save with a Southridge Smiles Membership to cover the cost of both routine and emergency exams for individuals and families at a fixed rate, plus discounts on other procedures and services!
- A parent, if you are under 18.
What to Expect During Your Initial Exam
When you arrive at our office, conveniently located at 3911 W 27th Ave #105 in Kennewick, you will be greeted by our friendly office staff. If you’ve already filled out your new patient forms online, you’re all set!
We understand that many people have fear, anxiety, or discomfort at the idea of visiting the dentist; that’s why we take extra steps to make sure all of our patients are comfortable and happy with their experience. After checking in for your appointment, help yourself to coffee, tea, juice, or a cookie at our beverage bar!
We also offer Comfort Dentistry for a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t find anywhere else in the Tri-Cities: during your exam, we provide warm blankets, warm facial towels, and even a paraffin hand wax treatment to make your dental exam feel like a spa day! Soothing music and your choice of entertainment further help our patients feel at home.
Comprehensive dental exams generally take 60 to 90 minutes. Depending on the particulars of your oral health and how long it’s been since your last visit to the dentist, your exam may include a cleaning or X-rays.

Beyond diagnosis and treatment, education is a large component of your exam. Dr. Simper doesn’t just want you to be comfortable, he also wants to make sure you have a lifetime of dental health. We listen to you, customize your treatment plans (if necessary), and discuss every detail so you can be confident you are receiving the best possible care. We will also discuss any costs with you, so that you are not surprised by large bills or any unexpected fees.
